Sajeeb Wazed Joy has expressed deep sorrow over the catastrophic flash floods in Nepal, saying he is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives and the immense destruction suffered by communities across northern Nepal.
In a Facebook post, Joy extended his deepest condolences to families mourning the loss of loved ones. He also expressed his thoughts and prayers for those awaiting news of missing relatives, as well as those who have been injured, displaced or remain in danger.
Joy paid tribute to rescue personnel, health workers, volunteers and humanitarian teams working under extremely difficult conditions to save lives and reach isolated communities.
Highlighting the enduring friendship between Bangladesh and Nepal as fellow South Asian nations, Joy said he stands in solidarity with the people of Nepal during this time of profound grief. He also urged the international community to support urgent rescue, relief and recovery efforts.
“May the people of Nepal find strength and courage in the difficult days ahead,” Joy said, adding, “We in Bangladesh mourn with you and stand beside you.”
