The body of a missing 13-year-old boy, the only son of a Comilla University teacher, was recovered from an isolated area of Lalmai Hill in Sananda village, Bijoypur, Cumilla Sadar Dakshin, on Saturday (September 19).

The boy, Aprotimm, was a seventh-grade student and the only child of Dr. Nahida Begum, an associate professor in the Department of Bangla at Comilla University.

Aprotimm left home around 3pm on Friday and did not return. His family later filed a general diary at Cumilla Sadar Dakshin Police Station.

After an extensive search, his bloodied body was found near Comilla University. The university’s proctorial team later confirmed his identity.

Comilla University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. M. M. Shariful Karim said two university teams had been searching for Aprotimm since Friday. He also said CCTV footage showed a local boy named Tuhin with Aprotimm near the university, and the boy’s movements appeared suspicious. The information was handed over to law enforcement.

Additional Superintendent of Police Mostain Billah Ferdous said police had recovered the student’s body and were investigating the circumstances of his death and those involved.
