The UN Security Council has approved a 20-point peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump to end the conflict in Gaza. The plan calls for deploying a multinational International Stabilization Force (ISF) to monitor the ceasefire, maintain security, and assist with demilitarization.
The ISF will operate in coordination with Israel and Egypt, while also training a new Palestinian police force. Responsibilities include border security, civilian protection, and supporting humanitarian efforts. Egypt is expected to play a leading role, with other countries like Azerbaijan and Indonesia showing interest.
Hamas, which has governed Gaza since 2006, has historically managed both security and social services in the territory. The plan aims to transition these responsibilities to the ISF.
Earlier, Turkey expressed readiness to assist in Gaza, but Israel has rejected any Turkish troop presence. Discussions are ongoing with Qatar and the UAE, although the UAE has confirmed it will not participate.
